What is the Purpose of the Methylation Biochemistry Test?

Methylation is a critical biochemical process occurring in every cell in our body.  It contributes to over 40 processes that range from DNA repair to detoxification and more.  Methylation supports life and without it, life would not exist.

In the foundational Nutritional Genius workup, we test for SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) in the methylation pathway.  This test tells us whether there are errors in these genes.  It is a powerful and useful indicator of risk but does not tell us how methylation biochemistry is effected.

We include this test with patients suffering from moderate-to-severe chronic disease, as it helps us develop the nutritional supplementation  approach that is included in the Personalized Care Plan.
